Faulkner Collins Ltd is New Zealand’s founding company in the wire working industry. The company was established in 1895 when Robert Faulkner and Lewis Collins (Faulkner’s son in law), opened a wire working plant in Bracknell, Berkshire, England. In 1906 they emigrated to New Zealand and immediately opened a wire working plant in Auckland, bringing with them their skill and plant. Initially the wire products were specialist lots of birdcages, wire gates and general wire products. These products were delivered to customers by company owned horse and dray. Faulkner Collins Ltd then went through a period of rapid growth extending its product range to cover a wide spectrum of wire and tube products, including being the first company to introduce fencing wire to New Zealand.

From the earliest horse and dray deliveries (circa 1906) Faulkner Collins Ltd now dispatches large volumes of product via land, sea and air, maintaining the highest standard of customer service.
The company’s growth continued, and by 1950 it had focussed on wire trays, wire baskets and display stands. In the mid 1940’s they began manufacturing supermarket trolleys and during this period the company introduced into New Zealand the first polyethylene thermo plastic coating plant, which was again at the forefront of new technology. The company today is a leader in all fields in which it participates and continues to employ the latest technology including CNC manufacturing equipment and computer design technology. |
